913lb Black Marlin
Roca Corbitania, Puerto Vallarta, MEX
November 6, 2005 @ 4pm

editors note: Team NOTORIOUS is dedicated to the tag and realease efforts exhibited by our fellow professional fishermen. Despite our best efforts to leader the marlin quickly in order to release this magnificent fish, the fish faught till the death and was eventually pulled to the surface belly up with the hook stuck in the corner of it's lip. On a good note, the fish was immediately brought to Marina Vallarta where it provided fresh food to the people of Mexico.
There are those days in your life when everything just seems to come together. You go to sleep at night feeling good about the preparations you've made the day before and wake up refreshed and full of energy. The sandwiches you ordered the night before are ready when you show up, people wave when you walk by, and little people line the roads singing "It's a small world"...... So either it was going to be a great day or someone slipped something in my coffee. Back to fishing.
The engines fired up and we took off; stocked up with fuel and adrenaline, a rare occassion at 6am on a fishing boat. Not 10 minutes out of Marina Vallarta we found ourselves floating in the middle of a skippy orgy. 3 irons in the water, 3 solid skippies in the tubes. 3 more irons out, 3 more skippies, and we had just made bait in less than 15 minutes. No one said anything about it (for obvious reasons), but instead Jeff returned to drive the boat, Hunter and Mike went back to rigging up rods, reels, and leaders; and John went back to studying his subjunctive past tense espanol.
